Step-by-Step Beaded Fringe Earrings Tutorial
Step 1
Thread the needle and pick up 4 black beads. Pass the needle through the first 2 black beads, then back through the last 2 beads. This will reinforce the beginning of the base row.
Step 2
Next, pick up 2 black beads and pass the needle through the last 2 beads, then back through the 2 beads you just picked.
Step 3
Next, pick up 2 beads and repeat the same process by passing the needle through the last 2 beads, then back through the 2 beads you just picked. Continue this until you have a total of 15 sets of 2 beads in this first row. The technique used here is called a ladder stitch, and since we are working with 2 beads, it’s referred to as a double ladder stitch.
Step 4
Now we are ready to start the next row, and you will begin by picking up 4 black beads. Every time you start a new row, you will always pick up 4 beads.
Step 5
Next, you will skip the first loop of stitches created between the beads in the base row. Pass the needle through the second loop, skipping the first, as we are decreasing to create the triangular shape of the top part.
Step 6
Next, pass the needle back through the last two beads. I highly recommend also passing the needle through the first two beads and back through the last two beads to reinforce the start of the row. Then, pick 2 beads and pass the needle through the next loop, going back through the two beads you just picked. Repeat this process until you reach the last loop. This technique is called a brick stitch, and since we are working with two beads, it is referred to as a double brick stitch. Continue this technique for each row until you reach the 14th and final row.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the top part of the earring, which consists of 14 rows. The first row is a ladder stitch, and the rest are brick stitches.
Making the Fringe
Now, let’s dive into the exciting part: adding the fringe! The fringe gives your earrings that bold, eye-catching flair.
Begin by picking up the number of beads needed for your desired fringe length. Once you’ve gathered the beads, pass the needle back through all of them except the very last bead—this prevents the beads from sliding off.
After securing the beads by skipping the last one, thread the needle through the first 2 beads of the base row and then back through the next set of 2 beads. This will secure the fringe to the foundation of your earring.
From here, start on the second fringe strand by repeating the same method—pay attention to the pattern, and make sure the thread isn’t too tight. You want the fringe to dangle and sway gracefully when worn.
